Services in seismic adequacy evaluation
We provide consulting and engineering services in areas where increased demands are placed on safety and reliability of the critical equipment.
Rizzo Associates Czech is a significant international engineering and consulting company based in Pilsen providing the safety and protection services for hazardous equipment, structures and infrastructure during their design, operation and decommissioning. Our services can be used by equipment manufacturers, civil engineers, state institutions, plant operators and the public.
Although we focus on territories where VVER-type nuclear reactor technology has been installed in the past, our services have been used in the past by customers in Europe, Russia, Pakistan, South Africa, South Korea and the United States.
As a matter of policy our staff engineers participate in creation, modification and renewal of national and international standards, regulations, guidelines and similar important documents related to our scope of activities. One of the most significant factors of our professional activity is a continuous and close co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with National Nuclear Regulatory Authorities, with various standard development organizations and many other national and international organizations (ÚJV Řež, a. s., VUJE, a. s., ŠKODA JS, a. s., ÚJV Řež, a. s. (including Energoprojekt division), Paul C. Rizzo Associates, Siemens, Westinghouse, Curtiss-Wright, and others).
In 2001, an indirect method of evaluating the seismic adequacy of equipment installed at VVER-type nuclear power plants under the name GIP-VVER was presented to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This method has become one of the recommended practices since 2003.
Since 2006, our company has created a joint project platform with accredited laboratories of the Military Technical Institute of Ground Forces, Vyškov in providing seismic qualification tests for components of the nuclear power plant safety systems in accordance with the IEC 60980 and IEC/IEEE 60780-323 standards.
